Serviced Apartments in Puerto Colom

Puerto Colom (also often known as Portocolom) is a small town and beach resort on the east coast of the Balearic island of Majorca. It is approximately a 90 minute drive from the island airport and is situated in its own natural bay and harbour. This journey can be made either by airport transfer, hire car or taxi, and the trip will take you through the heart of the island. There are many serviced apartments in Puerto Colom available to tourists all year round, many with spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.

As with so many Spanish and Balearic beach resorts, the town originally sprang up as a fishing village and home to the many fishermen of the area. Although the traditional fishing economy is still present, undoubtedly the main industry in the area is now tourism. Many new holiday apartments in Puerto Colom have been built over the last decade to deal with the increasing number of tourists arriving each year. Also in the town you will find plenty of restaurants and bars, as well as a few nightclubs for your evening entertainment.

As with many coastal villages, the harbour area is the heart of affairs and it is here you will find many of the shops, tavernas and holiday rentals in Puerto Colom. It is also possible to book sightseeing tours and boat trips from the harbour; there really is no better way to see the beauty of the Majorca coastline. Certainly not a hugely commercialised resort, Puerto Colom has all of the convenience stores and souvenir shops you would expect, without the massive crowds and overcrowded beaches.

The main beach is to the south of the town, towards the Cala Marcal area. It is here that much of the tourist development has taken place, and many of the holiday rentals in Puerto Colom overlook this sandy coastline. Although not a huge beach, there is usually enough room for everyone, even during the busy summer months of June to September. Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire, as is watersports equipment for activities such as jet skiing and windsurfing.

Another fun activity is to visit the National Park of Cala Mondrago, located about half an hour down the coast. This park is home to beautiful flora and fauna and a wonderful stretch of coastline. There are walking trails within the park, perhaps making a nice change from sunbathing for an afternoon.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home. With plenty of room why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can stay in spacious surroundings in and around Puerto Colom.
