Serviced Apartments in Mojácar

With a permanent town population of less than 8000 residents, Mojácar is a small town about 55 miles away from the provincial capital of Almería. The town is overlooked by mountainous terrain descending to the most tourist oriented part of the town, Mojácar Playa. It is in this beach fronted area where most holiday rentals in Mojácar are to be found. As well as the wonderful beach and warm sea, the town is known for its cuisine, festivals and cultural institutions celebrating 2000 years of history.

This part of Spain is also known for its year-round sunshine, with Mojácar seeing an average yearly temperature of 20°C. Winters are typically quite mild also, making serviced flats and self-catered apartments in Mojácar popular even outside of the traditional peak season. The sea temperatures are typically higher than the land temperature, making swimming, water sports and general splashing around an enjoyable way to spend your time.

The former Moorish occupation of the Iberian Peninsula has left its influence on much of the area, and Mojácar is no different. Traditional local restaurants serve regional cuisine with Arabic and Moorish connotations with dishes such as Gurullos, Gachas and Ajo Colorao certainly worth trying. Much of the architecture you'll find around your Mojácar serviced accommodation may also have North African influence, as the Moors dominated this region for around 800 years.

An unusual tradition is also to be found in the town, with the Indalo, or Mojácar Man being painted onto the front of the town's houses. This figure of a man holding a rainbow above his head adorns the buildings to protect those within from storms and general bad luck. It is thought the tradition goes back around 4500 years and is also common in the surrounding areas. Even some serviced apartments in Mojácar have these protective figures, certainly making for an unusual example of holiday accommodation!
When booking your Mojácar aparthotel, be sure to check whether one of the many town festivals is taking place during your stay. Of the many events, the Moors and Christians festival takes place in the middle of June, the festival of San Agustin is at the end of August and the Romería de San Isidro celebration is in the middle of May. The wonderful Bonfires of St John takes place on the 23rd and 24th of June, and the Virgen del Rosario Festival is on the seventh of October.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home.
