Serviced Apartments in Bilbao

In the Basque area of northern Spain is Bilbao, a proud city of about 350,000 people. It is the largest city in the Basque Country and is therefore well known for celebrating the culture of the region as well as being an important city in Spain. The history of the settlement goes back almost 2500 years and many visitors book holiday apartments in Bilbao to soak up the local history as well as the hospitable Spanish weather.

Speaking of climate, the city has an average year-round temperature of over 14°C with the best of the weather coming from June to September. Being on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, Bilbao has an oceanic climate meaning rain is not uncommon from October to April and the city may even see some snow during the winter. Bearing all this in mind, not many people book serviced apartments in Bilbao for a typical Spanish beach holiday and so the city is still seen as a year-round destination.

Bilbao has not always been seen as a likely holiday choice for international visitors; the tourism industry in the city really only took off in the late 90s with the opening of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The number of visitors to the city has increased exponentially since the opening of this impressive museum and it has been the spur for many other attractions to open. The museum itself is a striking looking building housing a wonderful collection of modern and contemporary art. Sitting on the bank of the Nervion River, this museum is the reason many people book holiday rentals in Bilbao in the first place.

Getting around Bilbao to see the rest of the city's sights is made very easy by the excellent transport infrastructure in place. The Metro system in the city is very efficient and there is also a tram line running through the busiest areas. The latter of these is probably the most fun way to get around, seeing as you can actually see the city you are travelling through at the time. Many serviced flats and self-catered apartments in Bilbao are within a short walk of either a metro station or tram stop, but of course, you also have the option of simply exploring the city on foot.

Other attractions to visit in the city are the Santiago Cathedral, the wonderful Etxebarria urban park, Mount Arxanda which overlooks the city, and another excellent museum - the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home. With plenty of room why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can stay in spacious surroundings in and around Bilbao city centre.
