Serviced Apartments in León

About a 90 minute drive from the north coast of Spain is the historical city of León. This city of 140,000 people has over 2000 years of history and has played an important role in the development of the area. With an abundance of attractive landmarks and religious monuments, native and international tourists are keen to make use of the excellent serviced accommodation in León every year.

In a country full of wonderful Catholic landmarks it is no surprise to find that León has a number of excellent examples itself. First on many visitors’ itineraries is a trip to the city's cathedral; built in a Rayonnant Gothic style it is an impressive looking building adorned with many wonderful stained glass windows. Also within easy walking distance of León city centre (center) apartments is the Basilica of San Isidoro complete with burial tombs and remnants of the Kings of León (no not those ones).

The old quarter of the city is where you will find the most ancient remains and a number of Roman remnants. There is still quite a large part of the mediaeval wall available to see, as well as plenty of information regarding that part in the city's history. Along with many of the holiday rentals in León, there are a number of impressive modern buildings outside of the old city. Possibly the most impressive of these is the Casa de los Botines; one of Antoni Gaudi’s creations, it dates back to the end of the 19th century and is adorned with incredible sculptures of mythical events.

León is a city which loves its folklore and religious processions; the most traditional of which is the Holy Week or Semana Santa which takes place every Easter. During the festival numerous processions take place re-enacting various events in the folklore of the Roman Catholic Church. A more unusual event during this week is The Burial of Genarín; this is quite a bizarre ceremony as it celebrates an alcoholic beggar being run down by the first garbage trucks in the city in 1929. In somewhat poor taste, the purpose is actually to celebrate alcohol and basically get drunk. Serviced apartments in León tend to fill up quickly during this period so book well in advance.

Along with the festivities and history associated with the city, visitors also have the benefit of enjoying some very favourable weather. The hottest months are July and August and the traditional summer season runs from June to September. Despite this, short-term apartments in León are available all year round for those who wish to avoid the crowds.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home.
