Serviced Apartments in Ciutadella
Ciutadella (or Ciutadella de Menorca to give it its official name) is one of the two largest cities on the Balearic island of Menorca, found on the extreme west of the island. With a population of just under 30,000, only Maó (or Mahón) on the other side of the island has a similar population on Menorca. This makes the city a very important tourist and economic hub and many people base their stay on the island in one of the excellent apartment rentals in Ciutadella. The city has a long history having been well-established by the fourth century A.D. One of the many Spanish cities previously under the control of the Moors, there are a number of religious buildings of both the Islamic and Catholic varieties. The most famous of these is the Cathedral of Menorca, a 13th century landmark built on the foundations of a previous mosque. Serviced apartments in Ciutadella are often within walking distance of the old town where many of the most characteristic buildings are to be found. Religion also has a large bearing on the city in terms of its tourist attractions; every June sees the Festival of St John with parades through the streets and communal activities. Ciutadella holiday rentals are very popular during this period as Spanish visitors from the mainland come to enjoy the festivities. The city is the religious centre of the island and seat of the Bishop of Menorca (strangely, the Bishop is not supposed to live here anymore, but he refused to move). Other sights to visit from your holiday apartment in Ciutadella include the unusual Italian style buildings from the 17th century. Many of these were built for civic and government use and give the city a somewhat continental look in places. Also, there is a palace in the old town which has been converted into the town hall. Formerly the home of an Arab governor and Aragonese royalty, it is now put to less regal use, but worth a visit nonetheless. The international airport on Menorca is on the opposite side of the island to Ciutadella, but because of the island's diminutive size, this is only a 45 minute trip away. The journey from the airport to your short stay apartment in Ciutadella takes you through the heart of the island and you know you have reached your destination when the Balearics Sea appears in front of you. Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home. With plenty of room why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can stay in spacious surroundings in and around Ciutadella city centre. From budget serviced apartments, through to mid range and luxury serviced apartments in Ciutadella, compare prices and get an instant booking confirmation at CityCentreApartments.com
