Serviced Apartments in Córdoba

The Andalusian city of Córdoba is located about 100 miles inland from the Costa del Sol city of Malaga and has an incredible amount of history associated with it. Heavily influenced by the Roman Empire, some academics believe that 1000 years ago the city was the most populous in the world. Now, with a population of about 325,000 people, it is a very popular city with both Spanish and international tourists, and there is an abundance of apartment rentals in Córdoba to choose.

All sightseeing tours of the city must start with the Old Town area, the second largest such city centre in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. The most impressive and well known landmark in the city is the Great Mosque of Córdoba, an enormous building dating back to 784 AD. Both the exterior and interior are mesmerising and should certainly not be missed during your stay in a Córdoba holiday rental. The building itself has changed hands several times over the centuries and since being taken over by the Roman Catholic Church, is now controversially used as a cathedral.

Another breath-taking sight is the Roman Bridge of Córdoba which is over 2000 years old. The bridge is 247 m long, 9 m wide and crosses the Guadalquivir River. It has been successfully restored over recent years and is certainly worth a visit during your stay. Other sites to see along the banks of the river are the Mills of the Guadalquivir; these buildings date back to the era of Muslim dominance and used the river's water to grind flour. There are a few serviced apartments in Córdoba situated along the river which give any visitor a fantastic holiday base.

As you can see by now, Córdoba is a city which has been hugely influenced by religion over the centuries. Many of the city's greatest landmarks are related to one religion or another; such as the 12 Fernandine churches dotted around the various neighbourhoods of the city. Many of these churches are former mosques which were converted after the city was taken back in the 13th century. As they are spread around the city you're almost guaranteed to find at least one or two within walking distance of any Córdoba holiday apartment.

You really could spend weeks going around all the historical monuments in the city before even getting anywhere near a museum. Try to spend at least a week here in a Córdoba the centre (center) apartment soaking up the sights and sounds of a tremendous historical Spanish city.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer.
