Serviced Apartments in Cuenca

Two hours to the east of Madrid is the city of Cuenca, home to approximately 60,000 residents and an abundance of historic churches, bridges and towers. The city is located on naturally uneven terrain, with gorges and rivers running through it; this has divided the city into its old and new parts, and holiday rentals in Cuenca can be found in both.

Being so close to the Spanish capital city, Cuenca is easy to reach by flying into one of the two international airports in Madrid. It is worth noting that Cuenca is almost exactly the same distance away from Albacete, giving you an alternative route. If booking your apartment rental or self-catered apartment in Cuenca during July or August, you may wish to make sure that it has air conditioning, as average highs for these months are just over 30°C. Temperatures are at least comfortable from April to October, but July and August are also by far the driest months.

There really is an abundance of landmarks and monuments to discover in Cuenca, the first of which is the Our Lady of Grace Cathedral. This 12th century building is one of the oldest Gothic style cathedrals in all of Spain, a country which is certainly not short of a Gothic cathedral or two. Easily found from any Cuenca city centre (center) apartment, this famous landmark is striking from both the outside and inside and is home to an impressive collection of organs.

Along with the cathedral is a wonderful collection of churches dating from the 13th century onwards. Saint Peter’s and Saint Michael’s churches are the two best known of these, the latter also used to hold classical music concerts and an annual festival. Also easily spotted from many Cuenca holiday apartments is the Mangana Tower, an intriguing clock tower the origins of which are not entirely known. Local historians have details that it had already been built by 1565, but records previous to this do not exist.

To further add to the somewhat incredible number of landmarks and sights to be seen in Cuenca, there are also the famous Hanging Houses; 15th century buildings built on the side of a gorge above the Huecar River. Visitors do not spend much time in their short term apartments in Cuenca as there is also the Saint Paul convent, Bishops Palace, City Castle and Holy Heart of Jesus Monument to enjoy. Perhaps not very well known outside of Spain, this city is an absolute treat for tourists.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home.
