Serviced Apartments in Sitges

A pleasant 45 minutes’ drive along the coast south of Barcelona is the seaside town and resort of Sitges. Most famous in Spain and Europe for its annual film festival and carnival, serviced flats and self-catered apartments in Sitges are also booked by visitors looking to enjoy the town’s nightlife, beaches and historical landmarks. Back in the 60s, when Spain was still oppressed by the Franco dictatorship, Sitges was known for its counter-cultural influence and being a rather Bohemian and artistic town.

There is a very large expatriate population in the town with about a third of the city's 26,000 population being from other parts of Europe. This gives Sitges a more generally European feel than other Spanish towns in the area. Many of these adopted Sitgetans have chosen the town for the same reason as many of the holidaymakers - the excellent beaches and sea. The town has no less than 17 beaches to choose from with 11 being in the urban area close to many Sitges holiday apartments. Most of the beaches have been awarded Blue Flags for their high quality and tidiness.

The Sitges Film Festival has been running every year since 1967 and is generally regarded as the most famous festival in the world as far as fantasy and horror movies are concerned. The festival is held in October every year making vacant city centre (center) apartments in Sitges harder to come by for the 10 days of the festival. The town carnival goes back even longer having been held for over a century during Easter each year. The carnival is also known as Carnestoltes and starts on Dijous Gras, or Fat Thursday every year.

The carnival is a celebration of music, parades, folk dancing and local cuisine and often sees more than 2000 people taking to the streets in these mass processions. This is certainly one of the highlights of the calendar year as far as the town is concerned and so, if you are dead set on experiencing it, make sure you book your serviced apartment in Sitges plenty of time in advance.

Also during your stay in a Sitges holiday let, make sure you enjoy the local gastronomy as there are some local dishes unique to the area. For example, Xató is a local speciality sauce made with nuts, garlic, vinegar, olive oil and nyora pepper typically served with an endive salad and fish. The dish is unique to the area and many Catalonian towns have their own take on the recipe.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home. With plenty of room why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can stay in spacious surroundings in and around Stiges city centre.
