Serviced Apartments in Cadaqués

Cadaqués may not be a household name when it comes to Spanish holiday destinations, but this sleepy seaside town is a little gem of a spot with the Mediterranean on one side and a lush, green, National Park on the other. Not only is this town surrounded by natural beauty but it also has a long history of artistic prominence with many famous artists being inspired by it. With a permanent population of just 2500 people, during the summer months the population increases tenfold and there are many holiday apartments in Cadaqués to accommodate visitors.

The easiest way to reach Cadaqués in the first place is by flying into to Girona Airport. From here, apartment rentals in Cadaqués are about a 90 minute drive away through beautiful Spanish countryside. On arrival in the town you will find beautiful whitewashed buildings with traditional terracotta tiled roofs, and roads running right along the waterfront. The town also has many attractive and intriguing narrow alleyways running throughout it and some very quaint little cafes serving foods during the day.

The artistic history of the town is equally impressive; Pablo Picasso not only enjoyed holidays in the town but eventually even built his own house just a few minutes away from the town centre. Other famous artists to enjoy Cadaqués include Joan Miró, René Magritte and Picasso’s close friend, Antoni Pitxot. Whilst staying in a Cadaqués holiday let be sure to visit the Salvador Dali House Museum for an interesting insight into the life of this hugely influential artist.

Behind and surrounding the town is the Cap de Creus Natural Park. The park runs all the way down to the coastline and is famous for its high cliffs, numerous tiny islands and small hidden bays. Inland, the park is full of forests, walking trails, some open meadows and an excellent array of wildlife, especially birds. This is a sizeable park and should certainly be explored at least in part during your stay in a Cadaqués short-term or self-catered apartment. A rental car is often a very good idea as the town is quite isolated from public transport, and this makes seeing the surrounding area a lot easier.

The nearby villages of Caials and Portlligat should definitely be visited and are within walking distance of Cadaqués. There are a couple of interesting islands just off the coast of the town called the Ille de Portlligat and Ille de s’Arenella. These can be visited by boat trip and make a wonderful day out.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home.
