Serviced Apartments in Cullera

Located approximately 30 miles south of Valencia is the coastal town of Cullera. The city has a population of around 25,000 people and is known for its beautiful beach, historical architecture and traditional Spanish cuisine. Being so close to Valencia, many tourists book a serviced residence in Cullera to enjoy the Mediterranean coast without staying in one of the busier resorts such as Benidorm or Alicante.

By way of countryside, Cullera is wonderfully situated being at the end of the Iberian range of mountains. There is a small mountain overlooking the town which is called the Munt de l'Or, and the San Lorenzo lagoon is also nearby, adding to the overall character of the area. Just to the north of the town is the Parque Natural de la Albufera where you can find plenty of walking trails and beautiful flora and fauna to enjoy. The best way to see the surrounding countryside is by using a hire car, and these can be booked at the same time as your Cullera apartment rental. There is also an attractive beach with plenty of room for sunbathing.

If the mountain is not the first thing you see on arrival at your Cullera holiday rental, chances are the 13th century fortress overlooking the town will be. Originally built by the Moors during their occupation of the country, the castle towers are an impressive sight and can also be visited for a closer look. Also within the fortress is the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Castillo; a 19th-century addition and important Catholic landmark for the locals.

A few other local landmarks also stand out; the neoclassical 17th-century Church of the Saint Johns has been recently restored to its former glory and visitors are welcome all year round. Also easily reached from serviced apartments in Cullera are a couple of landmarks relating to the area’s history of pirate activity; firstly, the Torre del Marenyet is a 15th century defensive tower constructed to protect against pirates sailing up the Júcar River. There is also the Cave of Dragut, a tourist attraction depicting more pirate activity in the city's past.

When it comes to relaxing in the evening in one of the town's excellent tavernas, you will find that much of the cuisine on offer uses local produce. As well as the delicious, fresh seafood of the Mediterranean Sea, the nearby orchards produce oranges, lemons and mandarins which often find their way onto the menu. There are plenty of eating establishments in the town, and there should certainly be one nearby to your serviced accommodation.
