Slovenia

The inconspicuous country of Slovenia has an interesting geographical location touching the Alps to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to its south west. It also shares borders with Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary and its population of 2 million people is one of the smallest in Europe. This former part of Yugoslavia has been independent since 1991 and has progressed to be the richest of all the Slavic states. More than half of the countryside of Slovenia is heavily forested producing some striking landscapes and excellent sightseeing for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. The capital city is Ljubljana; home to 270,000 inhabitants, it is full of interesting architecture, beautiful parks and bridges.

The best time to book serviced apartments in Slovenia is during the summer season of June to September with November to March seeing the coldest of the weather. Apart from the capital and other cities there is also a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and natural wonders to be visited such as the Postojna and Škocjan Caves. Along the Adriatic coast of the Mediterranean, the historical town of Piran is a must visit attraction offering beautiful beaches and an excellent nightlife. Although not particularly good for skiing, the Karavanke mountain range and Julian and Kamnik Alps offer some incredible scenery and mountain activities.
