Peru

After Brazil and Argentina, Peru is the third largest country in South America and has a population of just under 30 million. It is located in the west of the continent and is bordered by Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil to the east, and Bolivia and Chile to the south. As with much of South America the official language is Spanish and you will only hear the indigenous dialects in the remote parts of the country. The geography of the country is incredibly varied; from snow-covered mountain peaks to lush green rainforest, Peru has a multitude of landscapes to enjoy.

The seasons tend to be the opposite of Europe with the hottest weather being from December through to April each year. However, the temperature is pretty consistent year-round, what with the country being just south of the equator. Serviced apartments in Peru are generally found in the larger cities but there is also excellent accommodation in the beach resorts of the west coast and eco-tourism destinations in the Amazon Basin. The diverse geography of the country also provides plenty of outdoor activities such as surfing, rafting, trekking, mountain climbing and even sand-boarding. Peru has absolutely everything you could want from a South American holiday and I haven't even mentioned the world-famous, Machu Picchu!
