Serviced Apartments in Portonovo

Portonovo is a small town on the north west coast of Spain, about a 45 minute drive from Vigo, the largest city in the area. It is also only about a further 15 minutes away from the Portuguese border, making day trips from the town an exciting prospect. Most visitors to Portonovo generally arrive to enjoy the beaches and watersports available in the area, as well as the culture of the region. There are many holiday apartments in Portonovo available to book during the summer season.

The town has historically been primarily used as a fishing village, with excellent access to the Atlantic Ocean through its old port and harbour. Although the fishing industry is still in place, the primary industry is now tourism, with the busiest months of June, July and August also seeing the best of the weather. With an abundance of serviced apartments in Portonovo, the town population increases considerably during the summer as people arrive to enjoy the striking coastline.

Along the coastline close to the town are three excellent beaches. The beaches are called Portonovo beach (also known as Baltar beach), Caneliñas and Canelas and come in various sizes with the first of these being the largest and most popular. The second and third tend to be smaller affairs; good to explore when the main beach has become overcrowded, or if you just fancy a change. All three are easily accessed from holiday rentals in Portonovo, as they are generally well located, overlooking the sea and beach.

During the evening, there is plenty of entertainment on hand, as the town also has a surprisingly lively nightlife. There are many local bars and tavernas to enjoy, as well as a few nightclubs and karaoke bars for when you fancy a dance and a sing-along. If you would like to dine out and experience traditional Spanish cuisine, there are a number of local restaurants serving just that. Tapas is of course on the menu, as is plenty of fresh seafood caught from the Atlantic Ocean just that day. This is certainly not a large town, and holiday lettings in Portonovo tend to be close to all of the main attractions and amenities.

As mentioned previously, June, July and August see the best of the weather and are the best months for booking a short stay apartment in Portonovo. Average highs for these months are between 21 and 24°C making the weather hot and sunny, without being unbearable.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer.
