Chile

Comprising of the entire southern half of the west coast of South America, Chile is a long and narrow country of some 17 million people. Along the length of this unusually shaped country run the famous Andes mountain range to the east, and the South Pacific Ocean to the west. Chile has about 4000 miles of Pacific coastline as well as island territorials such as Easter Island. The climate of the country varies enormously from the rainy warmth of the south, up through the Mediterranean centre and into the Atacama desert of the north - the driest place on the planet.

As with much of South America, Chile has had its political and military problems but is now a peaceful and democratic country. Stable and prosperous, Chile is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America and the tourism industry is growing year-on-year. The capital, Santiago, homes most of the serviced apartments in Chile but there is an excellent array of accommodation in the country. The plains of Patagonia, statues of Easter Island, architecturally impressive port city of Valparaíso and Valley of the Moon region of the Atacama desert are all hugely popular with visitors. Not to mention the European cultural and architectural influence and friendly locals.
