Serviced Apartments in Newcastle

Medieval architecture, river cruises, the Pennine Hills and a vampire rabbit, these are just some of the things you can experience when renting a serviced apartment or holiday letting in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Discover some of Newcastle Upon Tyne’s traditional architecture as you take a stroll along the streets of Grainger Town. This town within a town was built by Richard Grainger in the mid 1800s and some significant buildings grace the streets of Grey, Grainger and Clay. Here you will find the Theatre Royal and the Grainger Market and at Grainger Town’s heart you can see the monument dedicated to the 2nd Earl Grey, Charles Grey. Grey’s monument is grade 1 listed and it’s wide plinth serves as a stage for street entertainers and speakers.

From your apartment rental or holiday let in Newcastle Upon Tyne you also have access to St. Nicholas Cathedral. This lovely building sits on the site of an ancient church which was destroyed in the 1200s by fire and then rebuilt although this structure didn’t actually become a cathedral until the late 1800s. Inside you will find the beautiful stained glass roundel of Madonna and child which dates back to medieval times as well as an effigy of a knight dating back to the 1200s. Outside you will see the wonderful spire dating from the mid 1400s as well as a somewhat unusual addition, a vampire rabbit who sits above a door at the back of the building. This rather unnerving creature would have originally been of plain stone but has now been painted black and it’s eyes, elongated teeth and sharp nails have been highlighted in blood red. No one is really sure of the evil bunny’s origins or why he is here. Some believe he is a symbol of protection, perhaps he is here to prevent the devil from sneaking in through the back door.

From your aparthotel or self-catered apartment in Newcastle Upon Tyne you can take a River Tyne cruise. These cruises last around three hours so why not take a relaxing afternoon cruise, enjoy the scenery and views of Newcastle Upon Tyne from the water before returning home just in time to enjoy an evening meal at The Keel Row. This lovely restaurant offers generous portions of flavoursome British cuisine, excellent, friendly service and a really nice atmosphere. The garlic prawns are just delicious.
