Serviced Apartments in Dungarvan

Dungarvan is an Irish town found on the south coast of the country on the banks of the Colligan River. City is known for its harbour and has been the site of many historical developments over the years. A causeway and a single bridge connect the two sides of the town and a 3km sandbar defines Dungarvan Bay. This is a small town which attracts a number of tourists each year who make the most of some excellent Dungarvan city centre (center) apartments.

Dungarvan is most easily reached by road and is connected to Waterford and Cork by the N25. Fans of sailing may make use of the eastward facing bay; about two miles wide, this day is suitable for smaller vessels and boat trips are available during the summer holiday season. Some Dungarvan serviced apartments overlook the bay, providing beautiful sunsets in the evening.

The most prominent modern industry for the town is manufacturing, with a good percentage of the population employed in this. However, in days of yore, Dungarvan was known as a fishing town and also the location for a successful tannery and distillery. This history can be viewed at The Waterford County Museum in the Town Hall. The Town Hall and Museum is found near to many Dungarvan holiday apartments and is certainly an interesting attraction in order to get to know the town better.

Each year in Dungarvan, the Féile na nDéise music and culture festival is held over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The festivities include street performance, dance exhibitions, bucket singing (don't ask), traditional Irish music and literature lectures. As always with festivals, accommodation gets booked well in advance and so Dungarvan holiday lettings may be hard to find during this period.

Although the Dungarvan is a seaside market town, it is overlooked by the Comeragh Mountains and surrounded by a hinterland of small farms and villages. It is a good idea to leave your Dungarvan self-catered apartment or serviced residence and take a day travelling along the coast of the Celtic Sea visiting such towns as Curragh, Ardmore and Stradbally. It is in areas such as these you will find typical Irish landscapes and traditional Irish villages.

Being a seaside town, there are a number of excellent restaurants in Dungarvan specialising in seafood and traditional Irish pub food. Among the better-known bars and restaurants are Bridgie Terries, An Seanachaí, Crew’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant and the Nude Food Café. Of course, if you prefer a quiet evening staying in at your Dungarvan holiday rental, there are also plenty of takeaways to choose from.
