There are always plenty of vendors walking round selling lovely little Buddha souvenirs and you can also purchase cages of tiny little birds that you then release into the air as an offering to Buddha. A lovely and quite moving experience.

At the foot of Buddha Hill you will find a really pleasant fitness park with plenty of trails for cycling, jogging or just enjoying a leisurely stroll as well as exercise facilities if you are feeling a bit more active. This is a lovely place for a picnic or quiet walk amidst lush vegetation and vast arrays of vibrant plants and flowers.

From your serviced residence or aparthotel in Pattaya you can also take a tour of a Gem Factory. Discover the history of gem mining and watch the beautiful works of art as they are being created. The tour is via a mini train, quite quirky and novel, but it adds to the fun as you zip around the factory on what can only be described as a children’s fairground ride. At the end of the tour you can enjoy complimentary drinks and can even purchase a few items if you want to treat yourself. The designs are all exclusive and, being tax free, the prices are very reasonable. The pearls were my favourite.

A fabulous restaurant within walking distance of your apartment rental or holiday let in Pattaya is Cabbages and Condoms. At this eccentric eatery you can enjoy Thai cuisine and spectacular views of the bay. The service is superb, the food is excellent value for money but don’t expect after dinner mints, here you get after dinner condoms. The quirky décor boasts mannequin’s dressed in rather colourful outfits that, on closer inspection, you will discover are made entirely of coloured condoms. Really well done but I’m not sure where the cabbages come in. An incredible experience.
