Serviced Apartments in Kraków

Situated in Southern Poland this vast city has seen more than it’s fair share of sadness and bloodshed and you will find many places in this city that have a heart wrenching history attached to them. Krakow also has a rich culture which can be explored in the many museums here. If you are considering a vacation in this wonderful city then a serviced apartment or holiday letting provides the ideal base from where to see all Krakow has to offer.

During WWII a small section of the city was turned in a Ghetto where all the Jewish people that hadn’t already been taken to concentration camps were transported by the Germans. This area was just big enough to accommodate around 3,000 inhabitants and yet 16,000 Jews were forced to live here in virtual poverty and constant fear. Only one business was allowed to remain running in the Ghetto and that was Eagle Pharmacy. This pharmacy was owned and run by Tadeusz Pankiewicz and was the only positive thing to come out of the Ghetto. The pharmacy became a place of congregation for the Jewish people as well as a way to smuggle food and letters in and out of the Ghetto, the one shining light in an otherwise dull, grey world. Tadiusz was honoured and made one of the Righteous Among Nations and the pharmacy has been restored to how it once was with the help of Steven Spielberg and Roman Polanski, who escaped the Ghetto during his youth. The pharmacy is now part of the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow and one of the places you have to visit whilst in this region.

A Krakow aparthotel or serviced residence also provides access to Poland’s largest aquarium where you can see a vast array of aquatic life as well as snakes, lizards and other scaly critters and enjoy interactive exhibits. The Botanical Gardens house an astronomical observatory which is now a botanical museum and plenty of beautiful species of flora including an impressive collection or carnivorous plants.

One piece of architecture that you simply must see is the Barbakan. This fantastic and rather imposing building boasts seven turrets and looks fresh out of a fairytale.

A great place to eat that is within walking distance of your apartment rental or holiday accommodation in Krakow is Starka Restaurant. This beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished establishment serves some superb European cuisine and provides excellent service. The asparagus in lemon cream sauce and the grilled veal liver are just divine.
