Serviced Apartments in Noumea

When renting an holiday letting or aparthotel n the capital of New Caledonia you will be privy to some of the most incredible beaches and clear blue waters, a rich, heady mix of history and culture, beautiful colonial mansions and some thoroughly absorbing museums to name but a few. Situated on the Main Island of Grand Terre in the South Pacific, the French speaking region of Noumea has a plethora of attractions to offer the discerning tourist and guarantees a truly memorable vacation.

This region offers numerous idyllic beaches where you can while away the hours beneath the sun or enjoy a variety of water sports. Anse Vata Beach, lined with coconut palms and lush foliage, provides a variety of water sport facilities from windsurfing and kite surfing to kayaking and there are several restaurants and cafes just across the road where you can refuel. In amongst the palms you will also find paths where you can cycle, jog or just take a leisurely stroll and this is one of the best spots for catching an incredible sunset.

For the perfect snorkelling opportunities take a trip to Baie des Citrons where, just off shore you will find a superb coral reef rich in a variety of marine life.

A couple of the museums that can be easily reached from your Noumea apartment rental or serviced residence are the Museum of New Caledonia and the City of Noumea Museum. The latter offers superb documentation and exhibits on life in Noumea through the ages as well as an excellent diorama of Noumea during WWII. The Museum of New Caledonia showcases some delightful Melanesian and Kanak cultural and artistic items including exquisite carvings, traditional clothing, spears and other weaponry, musical instruments, beautiful decorative pieces and traditional dwellings. Opposite the museum you will find the ‘House of Mankind’, Mwa Ka. Situated in a picturesque square this 12 metre high totem pole is the central column of the Chief’s hut which sits on the top but the pole is also thought to signify a ship’s mast. Behind the structure is a wooden helmsman who eternally steers the ‘House of Mankind’ onwards. The nautical theme is continued further with the surrounding flowerbeds planted out to represent the moon and stars. A really lovely display.

Take a short stroll from your Noumea holiday let or serviced apartment to the Place des Cocotiers, the lush and vibrant green heart of the city centre. Here you can grab an afternoon coffee at a terrace café and take in the stunning water features, the Celeste fountain is exquisite, and just soak up the wonderful botanical environment. Look out for the Centenary Flame Trees, an ideal photo opportunity.
