Hong Kong

After being under the control of the British for almost a century, Hong Kong returned to the sovereignty of China in 1997 and is technically a city-state found on south coast of the country. The city is a hugely successful and popular metropolis with a population of over 7 million people and a thriving economy. The two most recognisable features of Hong Kong are its spectacular skyline and its vast natural harbor. There are sites and attractions aplenty packed into this dense city; such as the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Disneyland Resort, Kowloon Park and numerous technological institutions.

Over 25 million tourists a year arrive in Hong Kong with approximately half of those coming from mainland China. International visitors tend to arrive via the international airport, itself located on a man-made island off the coast of the city. Although this destination is popular all year round, serviced apartments in Hong Kong are at their most popular from May to September when the weather is at its best. The city is known for being generally very safe and has a lower crime rate than that of mainland China. This is due to the rather upmarket and affluent nature of the city and its residents.
