Serviced Apartments in Natal

Natal is a city of about 1 million people on the north-eastern tip of Brazil. The city has become more and more popular with tourists since a 10 km stretch of coastal highway was built in the 1980s. It is along this stretch of road you will find many of the holiday rentals in Natal, overlooking some of the most beautiful sea views in all of South America. The city is ideal for those who enjoy big-city architecture, as well as lazy days on the beach.

One of the first landmarks to visit from your Natal apartment rental is the Forte dos Reis Magos or Fortress of Three Wise Men. This mediaeval fortress was built in at the very end of the 16th century on the banks of the Potengi River. From the fortress it is possible to see the impressive Newton Navarro Bridge, one of the largest cable-stayed bridges in Brazil. The bridge connects the North and South zones of the city and was only built less than five years ago.

If you fancy visiting a less conventional tourist attraction, how about a trip to the Maior Cajueiro do Mundo - the Largest Cashew Tree in the World. The tree is the size of about 70 conventional cashew trees and covers an area of approximately 8000 square metres. Another reason for visiting this unusual sight from your Natal holiday apartment is the presence of a lace and embroidery market where local craftspeople sell their goods.

If you are looking to spend some of your holiday on the beach, Natal has dozens to choose from, with white sand and crystal blue sea. The most famous of these beaches is the Ponta Negra (meaning black tip) which also comes with all the shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and food stalls you could possibly hope for. You could easily spend the entire day away from your Natal city centre (center) apartment, as the barracas (small huts or tents) on the beach serve food and drink all day and night.

Another beach in the area is Genipabu; this beach area is less suited to sunbathing as it is a complex of sand dunes with a lagoon and a collection of imported dromedary camels. This area is still very beautiful however, and it is the face of many postcards in the city. If you're looking for some action away from your Natal serviced accommodation, try your hand at sand surfing or esquibunda as it is known; this sport involves riding a wooden slide down the sand dunes. Great fun.
