Serviced Apartments in Mostar

Mostar is an incredibly historical and important city in Bosnia and Herzegovina most famous for its Old Bridge, one of the most recognisable landmarks in the whole country. Found in the south of the country, about two hours’ drive away from the capital Sarajevo, the city is thriving as an alternative tourist destination and there are plenty of serviced apartments in Mostar in which to base your stay.

Looking first at the number-one landmark of the city, the Stari Most or Old Bridge is a 16th century bridge built by the Ottoman Empire crossing the Neretva River. It is impossible to stay in a Mostar holiday apartment without spotting this great landmark. The sad truth of the matter is that despite the bridge still being hugely impressive and picturesque, what is now seen in the city is a reconstruction, as the original was destroyed in 1993 during the Croat-Bosniak War.

However, it was decided the bridge would be rebuilt using technology and materials as similar as possible to the original. Indeed, army divers brought some original stones up from the river bed which were then included in the new construction. Either way, a stay in a Mostar apartment rental is not complete without viewing the bridge.

After a hard day sightseeing, you will no doubt have worked up an appetite and would like to experience some authentic regional cuisine. What you will experience here is an amalgamation of influences from the Middle East, Turkey, the Mediterranean and even Central Europe. Whether you are eating in one of the city's fine restaurants, or taking food back to your Mostar holiday rental, you must try a few local delicacies. Börek for example, is a pastry filled with cheese, vegetables and minced meat then fried or baked. Delicious.

Many people travel to Mostar via the international airport in Sarajevo; however, Mostar does actually have its own international airport with a limited number of flights to other European nations. If you are not renting a car during your holiday, travelling to your Mostar city centre (center) apartment from Sarajevo is a relatively straightforward affair as there are reliable bus and train services available for that purpose.

Finally, make sure you complete your stay by picking up some souvenirs to take back home. The best shopping malls are the Rondo shopping centre, the Biosfera, Orka, and Mercator shopping malls as well as many other smaller, traditional shops.

Serviced and self-catered apartments, flats, holiday lets and aparthotels can be up to 30% cheaper than most equivalent hotel rooms and are becoming increasingly popular due to the freedom they offer. Whether it’s a short stay apartment you are looking for or a long term apartment, our holiday apartments combine all the amenities and comforts of home. With plenty of room why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can stay in spacious surroundings in and around Mostar city centre.
