Serviced Apartments in Graz

Graz (pronounced ‘grats’) is an interesting town as it is nearer to Slovenian towns than it is to any large Austrian ones and was once briefly part of Slovenia. During your stay in a Graz holiday apartment you will notice that the town has a definitely more Eastern European feel than most others in the area and also it seems to have its own climate. It sits in a natural bowl in the landscape which is open only to the south, so plants and animals that are not found in the surrounding countryside flourish in Graz. Add the amazing Grazer Kunsthaus museum of modern art which looks rather like a large tropical fish and you have a city of many faces, all of them not quite what you would expect.

The Old Town in Graz is one of the most beautiful in Europe, with many old buildings preserved to a high standard. If your Graz serviced apartment is in this area it will be a real treat but even if it is elsewhere, old buildings are so numerous in the town there will be something spectacular to see not very far away. The best view of the town is from the Uhrturm (clock tower) on the very top of the Schlossberg (Castle Mountain) on the edge of town and it would be fun to see if you can identify your Graz city centre (center) apartment amongst the thousands of red tiled roofs.

History is everywhere you look in Graz and for many it will be the reason for booking a Graz serviced residence for their holiday. There are more than twenty museums, many the best of their kind in the world. For example, the Landeszenghaus (armoury) has more than thirty thousand exhibits and is probably something you will visit more than once while staying in a Graz aparthotel or other holiday rental. In Graz no one is forgotten; there is a museum especially for children and one on criminology. And how many other towns have a museum just on locks and keys?

A Graz holiday let is a great way to see the town, but there is so much to take in that you will probably come back again and again. The architecture is so stunning in the town that you will probably not venture out, which is a shame as very nearby there are castles, open air museums and the Lurgrotte caves, the most extensive in Austria. And that is without even mentioning the birthplace of Arnie Schwarzenegger in nearby Thal!
